Aon are currently recruiting a Communications Consultant to join our team in an agile role which can be office or home-based. The Communications Consultant will be primarily responsible for providing consultancy and project management to implement strategic communication plans for services such as DB pensions, Flexible Benefits, Total Reward Statements, Salary Sacrifice, Investment Strategies, Incentive Plans and other types of employee engagement campaigns. It is a client facing role that requires travel to client offices for communication consultations when required.

About the Role

 

Your impact as a Communications Consultant

 

Consultancy:

Understand a client’s communication requirements and key objectives, advising best practice, building trust and adding value

Develop a relevant and practical employee engagement strategy that includes key activity deliverables and considerations for implementation

Provide clear briefs to designers and copywriters

Measure the success of a communication project and refine the strategy as necessary for future/on-going projects

Identify market trends and new innovative tools and techniques to improve and develop the client proposition and internal knowledge

 

Communications team support: 

Support where needed on content, including drafting, editing and proof reading using Plain English techniques

Support where needed on data management of various statements and printed mailings

Support where needed on review of design and formatting

 

Project management:

Lead communication project plans and coordinate internal and external stakeholders to ensure project delivery and efficiency

Identify risks before and throughout projects and manage these effectively

Understand and follow the appropriate processes and admin requirements aligned to client responsibility

 

New business:

Understand commercials and contribute towards the team target, accurately costing projects and reviewing profitability and efficiency

Build strong relationships with clients to maintain renewal work and identify new opportunities for communication support

Network with internal stakeholders to generate new business leads

Support the new business team with leads and present at pitches

Use tracker tools such as ‘Aon Connect’

Responsibility for working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks (including completion of mandatory training) that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.

 

 

About you

 

Your knowledge and expertise:

 

It is preferable that you also have Employee Benefits Communication Consulting experience /industry knowledge.

Have previous communications experience with a proven track record of managing and delivering communication strategies for multiple clients

Have a strong understanding of the project cycle with excellent time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure and within tight timeframes

Be able to explain the thinking and rationale behind the communications strategy with a good level of understanding on how to implement a project using best practice 

Be able to review each stage of a project using attention to detail, in particular for data management and print production

Have experience in Communications specifically the fundamentals of copywriting, including use of plain English, drafting to client requirements as well as editing / proof reading with creativity in mind
